WHO WE ARE In 1957, Metropolitan Pump Company began operations from a "home" office in Western Springs, Illinois and was subsequently incorporated in 1967. The following year, the company moved to a 2,500 square foot facility in Downers Grove, Illinois. Metropolitan realized continued growth in the early 1970s, doubling the warehousing capacity by 1974 and relocating to Lisle, Illinois. By 1990, increasing market share gains led to the development of a new, modern 20,000 sq. ft. facility in Romeoville, Illinois. In order to grow the electrical control portion of the business, Metropolitan Pump Company purchased Reliable Electric Controls (REC) in 1993 making it the tenth division of the company. This division employed 25 people and conducted operations in a 7,000 sq. ft. facility in Brookfield, Wisconsin. In order to streamline the business, the REC division was relocated to the Romeoville facility in 1996. As a result, the operations were consolidated and now exist as the Metropolitan Equipment Division. In 1994, Metropolitan Pump Company changed its name to Metropolitan Industries, Inc., which presently consists of nine operating divisions. Metropolitan Industries is also registered as Metropolitan Pump Company. Having built a reputation on expert advise, quality equipment and superior service, the company once again found itself out of room, and by 1997 developed a new 50,000+ sq. ft. facility in Romeoville, Illinois. Maintaining focus and preparing for the future, another expansion was completed in 1999. Our current 100,000 sq. ft. facility houses the entire Metropolitan operation including manufacturing, sales, engineering, and extensive inventory.
