Concrete buildings provide security and
flexibility

Metropolitan
Industries now offers the option of housing all components
inside a prefabricated concrete structure that adds beauty,
security and flexibility to any location.
Metropolitan’s new pre-cast buildings are heavy-duty and available in a
variety of shapes and finishes that are delivered to the jobsite
ready to install. Finishes include a simulated brick exterior,
exposed aggregate or a plain surface that allows the application
of any third party finish such as a stucco, vinyl siding, etc,.
Buildings
work well with control and pump applications where strict
environmental control, security and protection of vital
components are necessary and of high-importance. End-users can
house S.C.A.D.A. components, controls, flow meters, valve
configurations and pump systems for example. All buildings are
U.L. listed for commercial and industrial buildings according to
electric code.
A concrete housed control and pump station installation recently
sold to the Village of Bedford Park, Il. a southwest suburb of
Chicago is a good example of the flexibility incorporated with
the buildings. Metropolitan supplied the building with all
control equipment, a prefabricated lift station, a standby
generator and two 25HP pumps as a complete package ready for
installation. The project consisted of abandoning the existing
Dry Pit / Wet Pit pump station and replacing it with a
submersible pump station. The submersible station allowed the
Village to eliminate a confined workspace, as there should be no
need for personnel to enter the sanitary wet well.
This key to this job was matching the building exterior to the
finish of the new nearby fire station with regard to a special
brick pattern and color including a parapet roof. The building
was completely wired internally requiring the installing
contractor to simply bring power to the building and pull the
pump, float, transducer and anode wires to the building. The
building includes HVAC that keeps the building’s temperature
controlled and the electrical components clean and secure. The
100 kW natural gas generator has a sound attenuated enclosure
and provides back-up power to this station when power fails.
The incorporation of concrete building gives end-users another
option during the planning process. For more information
